MONTREAL – The New England Revolution defeated the Montreal Impact, 3-1, at Stade Saputo on Saturday evening. Kelyn Rowe recorded a pair of goals and an assist, while Kei Kamara recorded the third-fastest goal in club history to propel New England to its third consecutive victory in MLS play.


Kei Kamara got the Revs off to a quick start, scoring on a header just 24 seconds into the match. The Revs would extend the lead in the 27thminute, as Kelyn Rowe fired a shot from the top of the 18-yard box off the far post and into the back of the net. Shortly after halftime, Didier Drogba converted from the penalty spot to halve the Revolution lead. Rowe, however, scored on a volley to reclaim the two-goal lead in the 59th minute, which proved to be the final goal of the contest.


Juan Agudelo, who recorded a secondary assist on Kamara’s goal, has a new career single-season high of four assists. Also, for the first time in his career, Diego Fagundez has recorded an assist in three consecutive matches.


The Revolution return to MLS action on Sunday, Sept. 25, when the club travels to Columbus to take on Crew SC at MAPFRE Stadium for the third and final meeting between the two sides this season. The match kicks off at 7:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast nationally on FS1. The game can also be heard locally on the radio on 98.5 The Sports Hub in English and on WMVX 1570 AM “Nossa Radio” in Portuguese.

Revs Climb Above Red Line, Defeat Montreal

  • The Revolution defeated the Montreal Impact, 3-1, improving the club’s record to 9-12-9 (36 pts.) on the season. The Revs are now above the red line and are currently in sixth place in the Eastern Conference.
  • The Revolution are now 1-1-0 against Montreal this season. The two sides will conclude their regular season series on Oct. 23 at Gillette Stadium.
  • The win improves the Revs’ road record to 2-8-5 on the season.


Rowe Tallies Third Career Brace in Big Night

  • Midfielder Kelyn Rowe found the back of the net twice for the third time in his career, and the first time in 2016. The Federal Way, Wash, native scored his first goal in the 27th minute, and followed it up with an additional goal in the 59th minute.
  • Rowe has now scored 27 goals in his career, all of which have come with the Revolution. He moves into eighth place for most goals in club history, trailing current teammate Diego Fagundez, who has recorded 32 goals with the Revolution.
  • Rowe has now scored at least five goals in each of his last four seasons, and is closing in on his single-season career high of seven goals, which he did in 2015 and 2013.
  • The UCLA product has now posted 31 career assists, sixth most in club history, and is one shy of tying teammate Lee Nguyen for fifth all-time.


Kamara Registers Third-Fastest Goal in Club History

  • Forward Kei Kamara recorded his 10th goal of the 2016 MLS regular season, five of which have come with the Revolution, in the 1stminute of tonight’s match. The goal was the fastest of the season, eclipsing a pair of 3rd minute goals recorded by midfielders Diego Fagundez (3/6 at HOU) and Lee Nguyen (7/9 vs. CLB).
  • Scoring in 24 seconds, the goal is the third-fastest goal in Revolution history, trailing José Cancela who scored in 19 seconds (6/25/05 vs. NY) and Giovanni Savarese, who scored in 22 seconds (3/28/99 vs. MIA).
  • Kamara has now recorded 84 career goals, trailing only LA’s Landon Donovan (144), San Jose’s Chris Wondolowski (133), and FC Dallas’s Carlos Ruiz (88) for the most goals among active MLS players.
  • Of Kamara’s 10 total goals this season, five have come against the Montreal Impact. Three of Kamara’s goals were recorded as a Revolution player, while the other two were scored with Crew SC.


Pair of Revs Record First Goal and Assist Performances of 2016

  • Forward Kei Kamara and midfielder Kelyn Rowe each recorded a goal and an assist in tonight’s match. Kamara and Rowe join midfielderLee Nguyen (four times), midfielder Diego Fagundez (two times), and forward Juan Agudelo (one time) as Revolution players to accomplish the feat this season.
  • The Revolution also recorded a first for the 2016 season tonight, having at least two players record both a goal and an assist in two consecutive matches. Forward Juan Agudelo and midfielder Diego Fagundez each recorded a goal and an assist against New York City FC on Sept. 10.


Agudelo Posts New Single-Season High in Assists

  • Forward Juan Agudelo picked up an assist on Kei Kamara’s goal in the 1st minute of play. The assist was Agudelo’s fourth of the 2016 MLS Regular season, surpassing his previous single-season high of three assists (2015 w/ NE, 2013 w/ CHV).
  • Agudelo has now recorded assists in each of his last two matches. He has recorded at least a goal or an assist in three consecutive matches.
  • Agudelo now has 14 career assists, eight of which have come with the Revolution.


Fagundez Notches Assist in Third Consecutive Game

  • Midfielder Diego Fagundez recorded his fifth assist of the 2016 MLS Regular Season on Kelyn Rowe’s 27th minute goal. Fagundez has now posted an assist in three consecutive games, the longest assist streak of his career.
  • The Revolution Homegrown midfielder now has 23 career assists, leaving him just two assists shy of joining teammates Lee Nguyen and Kelyn Rowe as players to record at least 25 career goals and 25 career assist with the Revolution.


Revolution Make One Change to Starting XI

  • Revolution Head Coach Jay Heaps made one change to the starting lineup from New England’s most recent MLS match on Sept. 10 vs. New York City FC. Forward Kei Kamara replaced midfielder Gershon Koffie, who was unavailable due to suspension.

  • 1st minute (GOAL) – Kelyn Rowe crosses a ball from the right side of the 18-yard box to Kei Kamara, who heads the ball into the back of the net just seconds after the opening kickoff.
  • 6th minute (SAVE) – Montreal forward Didier Drogba receives a pass at his feet at the top of the 18-yard box. Following Drogba’s first touch, goalkeeper Brad Knighton races out to record a stop on the Côte d'Ivoire international.

  • 59th minute (GOAL) – Midfielder Kelyn Rowe converts a volley attempt on a loose ball in the box for his second goal of the night, extending the Revolution lead back to two.


  • 74th minute (SHOT) – Forward Juan Agudelo puts a shot on target that is deflected by Montreal goalkeeper Evan Bush. Forward Kei Kamara attempts to convert a rebound, but Montreal’s Ambroise Oyongo is there to send the ball over the end line for a corner. 


  • 80th minute (SHOT) – Midfielder Diego Fagundez dribbles through the attacking third and gets to the six-yard box, where Montreal goalkeeper Evan Bush stops his shot.
