As the calendar closes on the New England Revolution's 30th season, the past year has included plenty of conversation about club legends. While there can be cultured debate about the best player in Revolution history, there is simply no question about legendary status for Steve Ralston.
For eight years, Ralston teamed up with fellow St. Louis native Taylor Twellman to form one of the deadliest attacking duos in Major League Soccer, finishing his Revolution career with a club record 73 assists, surpassed just this season by Carles Gil. Accolades include MLS Rookie of the Year (in 1996 with the Tampa Bay Mutiny), three MLS Best XI selections (1999, 2000, 2002), a U.S. Open Cup title (2007), SuperLiga title (2008), and four Eastern Conference titles (2002, 2005, 2006, 2007).
Now an assistant coach with the San Jose Earthquakes, Ralston joined the crew on The Far Post Podcast presented by MA250 to reminisce about his days in New England, from the infamous story about subduing a naked passenger on a cross-country flight, to the enigmatic Emmanuel Osei stealing a free kick right off his foot.
