Confidence and Connection | Langoni’s personality shining through on and off the field

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – For Luca Langoni, confidence comes from connection. The pacy attacker arrived in New England late last season, making 11 appearances for the club in 2024. While it took time to fully acclimate, he made a quick impression, scoring almost immediately after stepping onto the pitch for the first time in a Revs jersey. This season, Langoni says he feels more connected in the locker room, as he continues to grow his impact in Foxborough.

Langoni speaks little English, yet everyone around the Revolution Training Center seems to have a clear understanding and an affinity toward the 23-year-old Argentinean. With so many new players joining the roster this season, Langoni explains that he has only continued to grow connected to his team.

“The number of Latino players on the roster, like myself, I think it creates a little more communication,” he said through a translator. “I feel like I’m a bigger part of the group this season and that community that we have.”

The community he has built isn’t just confined to the locker room, as he and other Revolution players frequently spend time together off the pitch. From celebrating birthdays, to supporting each other’s families, their bond is clearly deeper than just the game.

“Personally, I think it’s very important. Whenever we have free time, we try to get together and hang out. We try to carry that chemistry onto the field, which is important,” he said through laughter, struggling to get words out as his teammates walked past the interview cheering, and hyping him up.

It’s clear how much joy they take in each other’s company, especially as Leo Campana jumped in to play translator while Langoni gave quotes. Although it can’t be certain that Campana’s translation was accurate, as his version of the question had Langoni cracking up.

“To be united with one another and sharing time every day makes it special, it makes the group united,” he explained. “It’s nice to be sharing time with one another as much as we can.”

The off-field bond shows in the way Langoni’s been playing on the attack. After struggling with an early-season injury through May and June, Langoni has since notched 19 appearances and 13 starts for the Revolution.

While Langoni has logged just a single goal and assist so far this season, he’s been dangerous in the attacking third, finding space, taking on defenders, and locating his teammates in dangerous positions – not to mention, he’s one of the fastest players in the league.

“I think just my speed, my velocity, and my ability to find those spaces, attack spaces and find chances for Campana or Chancalay, the guys who are there,” he said when asked what he brings to the attack.

Although Langoni and the attack have found some exciting play as their chemistry continues to grow, it’s undeniable that New England had a rough stretch this summer.

After nine games unbeaten from early April through May, the tide turned, and the Revs struggled to find a three-point result until August 9 against D.C. United. It was an important win for the Revolution, who have full faith in their ability to make a late-season charge toward the playoffs, despite sitting 11 points outside of contention.

“We have a lot of confidence for sure, and even more after last weekend’s victory,” said Langoni. “I think we’re in a good spot. We need to keep working and improving on the areas we need to improve on.”

Tethered by those roots of friendships, the entire Revolution locker room continues to believe in each other. For Langoni, it’s his commitment to his teammates that keeps him sharp as they look to make a push for more wins.

“Without a doubt, we’re going to give it our all to finish the season well and make the playoffs. That has always been our objective,” he declared.
