Beginnings in Bradenton: Five matches scheduled for second leg of preseason

BRADENTON, Fla. – After a few, brief days back in Foxborough following the New England Revolution’s preseason trip to Marbella, Spain, the Revs continued on to the next portion of their itinerary to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida on Tuesday.


New England got right down to business with a light stretching and fitness session shortly after their arrival in the Sunshine State.


The team will spend the next 12 days in this warm weather climate, where they will train at top-notch facilities and face a mix of MLS, USL and European talent in preparation for the season opener on Saturday, March 2 in Dallas.


This will be the team’s second consecutive year spending a stint of preseason at IMG Academy, where this year the Revolution will play five total matches against Louisville City FC (Feb. 14), Minnesota United FC (Feb.16), Orlando City (Feb. 20), Greenville Triumph (Feb. 21) and KR Reykjavík (Feb. 23).


Two of these matches, against Minnesota United FC and Orlando City, will be a part of the inaugural Orlando City Invitational tournament, which is a set of games played amongst four MLS teams in Orlando. This invitational, which additionally includes New York City FC, will take place on Feb. 16 and 20 at Orlando City Stadium. The matches against Louisville City FC, KR Reykjavik and Greenville Triumph will be played at IMG Academy.


After a few days of training, the Revs’ first preseason game will be against USL side Louisville City FC at IMG Academy on Thursday, February 14.
