The Revolution Academy is committed to fostering and maintaining a competitive, dynamic and professional environment for its youth team players and staff.

Through player identification, quality training, meaningful matches, top-class facilities and an integrated approach with the Revolution’s senior squad, we expect to develop players – both on and off the field – for top colleges, U.S. National Team programs and the New England Revolution senior team.

With Major League Soccer’s Homegrown Player initiative, this is a crucial component in the New England Revolution player personnel development philosophy.

Fully-Funded

The Revolution youth teams are fully-funded by the New England Revolution. All players’ expenses related to competition are paid for by the Revs, including: training, facilities, adidas uniforms and training gear, and game/tournament-related travel expenses.

Style of Play

Our player pool is encouraged, trained and expected to exhibit a possession-oriented, dynamic style of attacking soccer. We believe this gives our players the best possible opportunity to continue their careers at the highest levels, both collegiately and professionally.

Within this style of play, each player is given the autonomy to make decisions – with and without the ball – based on their training and knowledge of situations as they arise in a game.

Competition Calendar

As of the 2012-13 season, the Revolution youth teams moved to a 10-month competition calendar to align with the entire U.S. Soccer Development Academy. Teams compete September through June while training all year long.

Training Schedule

The Revolution youth teams train three times per week – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. All sessions take place at Gillette Stadium. Training sessions last two hours, and all three youth teams conduct sessions between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., the exact two-hour window varying based on age level.

Training and Playing Facilities

The Revolution youth teams train at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., either on the main Gillette Stadium field or in the Socios.com Field House. Both surfaces are FieldTurf fields.

For the most part, all Revolution youth team home games are played at Gillette Stadium. However, because of scheduling conflicts, some home matches are played at off-site facilities. In the past, Classical High School (Providence, R.I.), Durfee High School (Fall River, Mass.) and the Fruit Street Fields (Hopkinton, Mass.) have hosted Revolution home matches.

Transportation to Training and Home Matches

Many Revolution youth players car pool with other players who live nearby. The Revolution staff helps connect players who may live close by so they can coordinate transportation to and from training sessions and local home matches.

Away-Game Travel

The Revolution youth teams play a very regionalized regular-season schedule focused in New England, New York and Montreal, Canada.

In general, players’ families are responsible for transportation to games played in New England. These include home games and matches at FC Bolts Celtic (Cambridge, Mass.), Seacoast United (Epping, N.H.), Oakwood SC (Portland, Conn.) and BSC CT Academy (Bridgeport, Conn.).

The teams travel by bus to most games played in New York and Montreal, and fly commercially to U.S. Soccer Development Academy Showcases and postseason events.
