Revolution II action vs. Forward Madison

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution II (3-4-1, 10 pts.) snapped its two-game winless skid with a 2-0 victory on the road over Forward Madison FC (3-2-3, 12 pts.) on Saturday night at Breese Stevens Field. Academy players Noel Buck and Michael Tsicoulias provided the scoring for Revolution II. Goalkeeper Joe Rice made his first appearance since May 16, recording four saves and the fifth clean sheet of his career. Forward Madison had several chances, taking 19 shots and striking the woodwork on five separate occasions.

“It was a gutsy performance for our guys,” said Revolution II Head Coach Clint Peay. “[Forward Madison FC] put us under a lot of pressure and I thought that we were able to weather the storm in the first half and we were opportunists tonight. We took our chances and were effective with our chances, so I was happy to see that.”

Revolution II took the lead just before halftime, with 16-year-old Academy midfielder Noel Buck (2005 – Arlington, Mass.) scoring his team-leading third goal of the season with an assist from Homegrown Player Justin Rennicks – his second consecutive match with a helper.

“I'm starting to feel way more comfortable,” said Buck. “It's a team that feels more like a team environment, and all the guys are getting to know each other more and more. And as the season goes, we’ve gained chemistry and it feels like things are all coming together.”

Academy forward Michael Tsicoulias (2002 – Newton, Mass.) tallied his second goal in as many games, placing a shot perfectly into the top corner in the 80th minute off an assist from Jake Rozhansky.

Homegrown Players Justin Rennicks and Damian Rivera each made their eighth appearance of the season, starting the match before being subbed off late in the second half. Fellow first-team player Collin Verfurth made his season debut with Revolution II after missing the opening seven matches with a lower body injury, seeing action as a substitute in the second half.

"What a feeling it was to come back and get a shutout,” said Rice. “We have to thank the boys in front of me, they held their own as much as I did. Just give a shout out to the 10 players in front of me. And again, it was just an unreal feeling. I'm very grateful just to come back and get a shutout.”

New England will return home next Saturday night, June 26, hosting North Texas SC, the FC Dallas developmental side, at Gillette Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
