Another weekend, another masterclass in chance creation from Carles Gil.
The New England Revolution captain registered 10 chances created - including a remarkable seven from set pieces - and notched his league-leading fifth assist of the season in the Revs' 1-0 win over FC Cincinnati this past Saturday at TQL Stadium. Gil delivered the 70th-minute set piece which Adam Buksa headed home to give the Revolution a third straight win and solidify their place atop the Eastern Conference standings.
Gil leads MLS with 48 chances created according to Opta, almost double the man in second place, Minnesota United's Emanuel Reynoso (25). The 28-year-old talisman, who signed a contract extension with New England just last week, also leads MLS in several other offensive categories, including big chances created (8) and dribbles completed (26).
