Youth Development Highlights | Academy teams close April with busy weekend

Academy Under-15s action

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy had another busy weekend of MLS NEXT spring season play, with the Under-17s, Under-15s, and Under-14s all hosting Cedar Stars Academy at Gillette Stadium on Sunday. The U-14s claimed a 3-0 victory over Cedar Stars, one day after defeating Black Watch Premier, 9-2.


In addition, the New England Revolution welcomed Rob Becerra as the club’s new Director of Youth Development last week. Click here to learn all about Becerra, who brings more than 20 years of coaching expertise including MLS, USL, and national team experience to the Revolution Academy.


The U-17, U-15, and U-14 Revolution Academy teams will hit the road next weekend with all three teams facing BW Gottschee on Saturday, May 1 in Staten Island, N.Y. Additionally, the U-19s will return to action on Friday, April 30 with a 6:00 p.m. match at Gillette Stadium against Black Rock FC.

Revolution MLS NEXT Highlights

  • Forward Jason Zacarias (2004 – Billerica, Mass.) factored into the scoring for a second straight week, netting his second goal of the spring for the U-17s over the weekend.
  • Defender Henrique Dias (2006 – North Andover, Mass.) scored his first goal of the 2021 spring season for the U-15s with an assist from forward Jordi Tornberg Ayala (2006 – Revere, Mass.), his third helper of the year.
  • Midfielder Jaime Vega (2007 – Cambridge, Mass.) and forward Everson Goglia (2007 – Bristol, R.I.) led the way for the U-14s over the weekend. Vega scored one goal and recorded three assists, while Goglia netted three goals for a hat trick.
  • Forward Luka Hislop (2007 – Concord, Mass.) scored a goal in each game for the U-14s while midfielders Conrad Sweatman (2007 – Hampton, N.H.) and Ryan Viana (2006 – Framingham, Mass.) each scored a brace on Saturday. Midfielder Matias Xhikneli (2008 – Glastonbury, Conn.) added an assist on Saturday and a goal on Sunday.
