ORLANDO, Fla. – The New England Revolution (1-1-3, 6 pts. in regular season; 1-2-3 overall) were defeated by the Philadelphia Union (2-1-2, 8 pts. in regular season; 3-1-2 overall), 1-0, in the MLS is Back Tournament Knockout Stage at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort on Saturday night. Philadelphia’s Sergio Santos scored the lone goal of the match with a left-footed strike on Jamiro Monteiro’s assist in the 63rd minute. The loss ends the Revolution’s run in the MLS is Back Tournament and snaps the club’s four-match unbeaten streak.
New England exits the tournament in the Round of 16 despite conceding only two goals in four games. Forward Adam Buksa, making his sixth consecutive start, logged a full 90 minutes and registered game highs in shots (5) and shots on goal (2) to pace New England’s attack. In his second consecutive start, midfielder Tajon Buchanan logged three shots and one shot on goal. Forward Gustavo Bou, wearing the captain’s armband for the third time in six games this season, registered three shots and two shots on goal.
Goalkeeper Matt Turner recorded four saves in the match, as defenders Alexander Büttner and Antonio Delamea, two of Sporting Director and Head Coach Bruce Arena’s five changes to the starting lineup, played a full 90 minutes in the back. Defender Brandon Bye again featured at right back and has played every minute of the Revolution’s 2020 season.

The New England Revolution fell to the Philadelphia Union, 1-0, in the MLS is Back Tournament Knockout Stage on Saturday night. The club’s record moves to 1-2-3 in 2020 across all competitions.
- The Revolution exit the tournament despite conceding only two goals in four games. New England recorded two shutouts in the group stage and finished the competition with a 1-1-2 record.
