Revolution midfielder Luis Caicedo undergoes successful knee surgery

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution midfielder Luis Caicedo underwent successful surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee on Wednesday, March 11. Caicedo has been placed on the season-ending injury list, and is expected to miss the remainder of the 2020 MLS season with an anticipated nine-month recovery period.


The surgery was performed by Dr. Scott Martin at Brigham and Women’s/Mass General Health Care Center in Foxborough, Mass.


Since joining the Revolution ahead of the 2018 MLS season, Caicedo, 24, has appeared in 61 matches – including 56 starts – and has totaled one goal and four assists in regular season play. The defensive midfielder recorded 30 MLS appearances in his debut campaign, before playing in 31 games in 2019. He initially came to New England on loan from Colombian side Cortuluá with five years of professional experience between Colombia and Portugal.
