HARTFORD, Conn. – New England Revolution II opened their inaugural preseason with a friendly match against USL Championship side Hartford Athletic at Farmington Sports Arena in Farmington, Conn. on Wednesday afternoon, a 5-1 defeat.


In the team’s first match since convening for preseason on Feb. 9, Revolution II Head Coach Clint Peay deployed a lineup that combined recent USL signees, including Revolution Academy alum Meny Silva, with several current Academy standouts. Academy goalkeeper Austin Causey (Groton, Mass. – 2001) earned the start in net, while fellow youth standouts Michael Tscicoulias (Newton, Mass. – 2002), Kaoru Fujiwara (Foxborough, Mass. – 2001), Gevork Diarbian (Cranston, R.I. – 2001), and Colby Quinones (Bedford, N.H. – 2003) all saw action in the second half.


The Revolution II preseason continues with a closed-door scrimmage against Hartford Athletic on Saturday, Feb. 22. The team’s inaugural USL League One regular season begins on Saturday, March 28 with a home match against Orlando City B at Gillette Stadium.
