Defender Jalil Anibaba selected by Nashville SC in 2019 MLS Expansion Draft

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution defender Jalil Anibaba was selected by Nashville SC in the third round of the 2019 MLS Expansion Draft on Tuesday evening. The Revolution will receive $50,000 in General Allocation Money as compensation for having a player selected in the Expansion Draft.


Anibaba, 31, spent two seasons with the Revolution after signing with the club as a free agent on Feb. 9, 2018. The Fontana, Calif. native recorded 53 games played, 48 starts, one goal, and three assists with New England. For his nine-year MLS career, which also includes stints with the Chicago Fire (2011-13), Seattle Sounders FC (2014), Sporting Kansas City (2015), and the Houston Dynamo (2016-17), Anibaba owns 219 career appearances, 201 starts, six goals, and 14 assists across 18,530 minutes of league play. In the MLS Cup Playoffs, he has registered six games played, four starts, and one assist.
