Academy Update: Busy weekend sees Revs' youth teams play nine games

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – All five New England Revolution Academy teams were in action this past weekend. The U-19s, U-17s, and U-15s hosted matches against Oakwood Soccer Club at East Providence High School, while the U-14s and U-13s traveled to Advance, N.C. for the U.S. Soccer Development Academy's East Conference Regional Showcase. The U-14s played matches against Players Development Academy (Oct. 28), New York Red Bulls (Oct. 28), and D.C. United (Oct. 29). Meanwhile, the U-13s squared off with New York Red Bulls (Oct. 27), United Futbol Academy (Oct. 27), and Philadelphia Union (Oct. 28).


All five teams will host matches this weekend against FC Boston Bolts. The U-19s, U-17s and U-15s will play contests at East Providence High School, while the U-14s and U-13s will play their matches at Medway High School. The U-14s and U-13s will then play an additional game on Sunday, as they travel to TD Bank Oakwood Soccer Park in Glastonbury, Conn. to play Oakwood Soccer Club.


WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

  • Midfielder Isaac Angking '00 (Providence, R.I.) recorded his fifth multi-goal match this season, scoring twice as the U-19s defeated Oakwood Soccer Club, 3-2. Forward Tim Ennin '00 (East Windsor, Conn.) opened the scoring for the U-19s, while Nick Firmino '01 (Somerville, Mass.) contributed his first assist of the season.
  • Forwards Luis Blanco '01 (Pawtucket, R.I.) and Michael Tsicoulias '02 (Newton, Mass.) each registered a goal in the U-17s' 3-2 loss to Oakwood Soccer Club. Defender Morris Matthews '03 (Cambridge, Mass.) registered an assist while playing up an age group.
  • Midfielder Hikaru Fujiwara '03 (Lexington, Mass.) and forward Andrew Serafino '03 (East Longmeadow, Mass.) each recorded a goal and two assists in the U-15s’ 6-0 win over Oakwood Soccer Club. Goalkeeper Eliot Jones '03 (New Britain, Conn.) made two saves in the shutout performance.
  • Midfielder/Forward Michael Hofstetter '04 (East Greenwich, R.I.) led all Revolution U-14 players in scoring at the USSDA East Conference Regional Showcase with one goal and two assists over three matches.
  • Midfielder Marco Dos Santos '05 (Windham, Mass.) converted a pair of penalties to lead all Revolution U-13 players with two goals at the USSDA East Conference Regional Showcase.
