Academy Release: March 22, 2017

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy opened its spring season this past weekend when all four teams squared off with Seacoast United. The Under-18s and Under-16s played matches at Gillette Stadium, while the Under-14s and Under-13s took to the pitch at Medway High School. In addition, the U-18s and U-16s played on Sunday against the Montreal Impact at Gillette Stadium.


All four Academy teams will be back on the field this weekend as the U-18s and U-16s play road contests at Empire United on Saturday, March 25, while the U-14s and U-13s will host Oakwood Soccer Club at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, March 26.


The New England Revolution Academy in conjunction with U12 Alliance partner clubs will be holding a series of player identification clinics for boys in 2006 & 2007 birth years for the upcoming 2017-18 U.S. Soccer Development Academy season. WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

·         Midfielder Kevin Vang '00 (Cranston, R.I.) registered his first goal of the season with a left-footed curled shot from a free kick at the top of the 18-yard box (WATCH HERE).


·         Midfielder Joe Brito '99 (Bolton, Conn.) recorded three goals with the U-18s over the weekend. Brito is one of two Academy players across all age groups to score at least 10 goals on the season.


·         Forward Izaiah Jennings '98 (Barrington, R.I.) notched a brace in the Under-18s’ 3-3 draw with the Montreal Impact. The forward now has eight goals on the year.


·         Forward Damian Rivera '02 (Cranston, R.I.) posted his 10th goal of the season while playing up with the U-16s. Rivera has now played five matches with the U-16s during the 2016-17 season.


·         Six different players found the back of the net for the U-13s in the 6-1 victory over Seacoast United (scoring summary noted below). Defender Zach Sardi-Santos '03 (Newton, Mass.) recorded his first goal as a Revolution Academy player.
