BOSTON, June 14, 2016 – Celebrating its commitment to education through its partnership with the New England Revolution, Santander Bank today announced the launch of its third annual Santander Soccer Scholars program. Now through the end of the 2016 Major League Soccer regular season, Santander Soccer Scholars offers New England students ages six through 17 the chance to win $500 toward their education and a unique VIP Match Day experience with the Revolution in honor of the team’s dedication to athletics and academics.
Santander will celebrate the launch of Soccer Scholars with a free, public youth soccer clinic on Tuesday, June 14th at Teddy Ebersol's Red Sox Fields on the Charles River Esplanade. Hosted in conjunction with the Revolution and The Esplanade Association, the event will feature skills and drills tutorials with New England Revolution Academy coaches, meet and greet and autograph signing opportunities with Revolution players, games, and more.

Santander Soccer Scholars rewards students ages six through 17 for their hard work and dedication to academic and athletic excellence with the soccer experience of a lifetime. Between June 13th and October 13th, 2016 adults can enter a deserving student for the opportunity to win a host of prizes. One grand prize winner will be selected to receive $500 toward his or her child’s education; a visit to the student’s school from Revolution player Charlie Davies; and a VIP match day experience including four tickets to a designated New England Revolution home match, an on-field photo opportunity with Davies, and the chance to stand on the sidelines and cheer on the team as they take the field. Eight first prize winners will receive $500 toward their child’s education and the VIP Revolution Match day experience. The bank will also randomly select 126 daily prize winners who will receive two tickets valid for any 2016 New England Revolution home match and a Santander New England Revolution drawstring bag.
For the second consecutive year, Santander is partnering with Revolution forward and New England native Charlie Davies, who will serve as the champion and official face of the Santander Soccer Scholars program. Davies hails from Manchester, New Hampshire and attended Boston College, where he succeeded in academics and athletics before settling into his career in professional soccer, which has seen him play in France, Sweden and Denmark as well as in the MLS while also playing for the U.S. National Team.
“As a new father of twin boys, the power and synergy between academics and athletics in the enrichment of children’s lives has taken on a whole new meaning for me, and I'm thrilled to once again join Santander to be part of the Soccer Scholars program,” said Davies. “Celebrating the academic and athletic achievements of New England students last season was an inspirational experience, and I look forward to helping Santander honor the students’ hard work in 2016.”
