Revs emerge from Expansion Draft unscathed; LAFC continue building roster

DL - Expansion Draft

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution emerged from Tuesday afternoon’s Expansion Draft unscathed as newcomer Los Angeles FC’s five selections did not include any unprotected players from the Revolution roster.

Third-year forward Femi Hollinger-Janzen, veteran left back Chris Tierney, and young goalkeeper Matt Turner were unprotected and currently under contract with the Revs for 2018, and it now looks likely that all three will be in Foxborough when preseason camp kicks off late next month.

Femi was selected by Minnesota United FC in last year’s Expansion Draft and spent a portion of the 2017 preseason with the Loons, only to be re-acquired by the Revolution in mid-February in exchange for goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth.

This was the 11th Expansion Draft in MLS history, and just the third in which the Revolution did not have any players selected. They also emerged unscathed from the 2010 and 2011 Expansion Drafts.
