CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Revs have done it. For the first time since 2023, the New England Revolution are playoff bound after their electric 3-2 win at FC Cincinnati on Wednesday night earned them a spot in postseason action.

It was an emotional night in Cincinnati, topped off by the Audi 2026 MLS Cup Playoff berth. The Revs started behind, conceding to Cincinnati in the 13th minute. While the moment could have felt uncertain following New England’s last two results, the confidence on the pitch never wavered.

The Revolution proved their belief just eight minutes later when striker Dor Turgeman powered a strike past Cincinnati goalkeeper Evan Louro to level the score. But of course, the Revs weren’t done yet. Hungry to get back in the win column, newcomer Josh Wynder headed home his first MLS goal in front of his family and friends, who travelled from his native Kentucky to cheer him on. Finding contact off a corner kick from Carles Gil, the helper solidified the Spaniard as just the second player in MLS history to log double-digit assists in six consecutive seasons (Preki).

“First of all, it’s most important that we got the win. I think that was huge for us, but that was an awesome moment for me to get my first goal for this club. It’s been amazing since I’ve been here and to have my family in the stands was just an amazing moment,” said Wynder.

Six minutes into the second half, Turgeman earned his first MLS brace with the help of Peyton Miller. It was the second time the duo combined on the night, with Miller earning the assists on both of Turgeman’s goals and logging his first multi-assist performance.

Up 3-1, the Revs could taste victory, but Cincinnati made it a nailbiter with a goal in the 67th minute. Fighting to defend the win at 3-2, the Revolution brought the fight to TQL Stadium. Late in the game, Matt Turner turned on his signature heroics, denying Cincinnati repeatedly to secure the three points. He ended the night with a whopping eight saves.

“It was amazing for the guys, they really gave everything, every piece of energy that they had. They just left it all on the field. And I want to congratulate them, not just for the win, but their approach and their fighting spirit,” said head coach Marko Mitrović.

It was New England’s second straight win over Cincinnati, who they took down 6-1 in March to claim their first victory of the season. Since then, it’s been an impressive ride for the Revs as they’ve worked their way to a playoff berth. And while the future is exciting for the Revolution, the focus remains on the next match and every small step in between as they hunt down another victory.

“We have another amazing opponent on Saturday, in just three days. We’ll travel back home now and we have to recover. That’s the only thing I am thinking of right now,” said Mitrović.

The Revolution sit third in the Eastern Conference after Wednesday’s result and will take on Chicago Fire FC on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium. The match marks just one of five games remaining in the regular season as New England look to finish strong.
