Revolution II Game Preview: New England Hosts NYCFC II in 2023 Home Opener

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution II welcomes New York City FC II for its home opener at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, April 2 at 8:00 p.m. ET. Sunday’s match will stream live on MLSNEXTPro.com.

Revolution II opened its season last weekend in Kennesaw, Georgia to take on Atlanta United 2. After causing an own goal on Atlanta with a cross into the box, midfielder Jake Rozhansky notched a goal, and later an assist on Pierre Cayet’s game-winner to seal New England’s first three points of the season.

Revolution Academy defender Peyton Miller started the match, becoming the youngest player to make his professional debut with the club’s second team to date. The match also saw the Revolution II debuts of Jordan Adebayo-Smith, Ben Awashie, Joshua Bolma, Nico Campuzano, Nakye Greenidge-Duncan, Noble Okello, and Santiago Suarez.

New England and New York City FC II last faced off on September 10, 2022 as the two sides played to a 0-0 draw before New England fell in the shootout, 4-2. Goalkeeper Max Weinstein made four saves enroute to his third clean sheet of the 2022 season. New England played NYCFC II to a tie to kick off its 2022 campaign where Homegrown midfielder Damian Rivera registered a brace as New England went on to win the penalty kick shootout, 4-3.
