Revolution Headlines: July 24

Jermaine Jones vs. Toronto FC

Happy Friday. Coming in hot with some headlines.

Jermaine Jones spoke to the media (Boston Globe, Boston Herald, ESPN FC) on Thursday after training about his return to play. Jones has been recovering from a sports hernia injury he sustained during a May 31 game against the LA Galaxy. Jones told members of the press, “I’m happy to be around the guys now and I feel good. The pain that I got before is away. That’s the biggest part which makes me happy.” Jay Heaps is having Jones travel to Chicago this weekend with the team, though he is not expected to play.

Gillette Stadium will host a friendly between the United States and Brazil on September 8. Revs President Brian Bilello told media, “I think with US soccer, and I’ve said this in the past, I think they look at our venue and they look at Foxborough and the Boston/Providence region and know it’s a great place.”

The Bent Musket did a piece on the Revolution Academy (which has churned out stars Diego Fagundez and Scott Caldwell); specifically, who to keep an eye out for in the coming years. Check out their top ten list here.

That’s all for today. TGIF!
