Revolution Announce Protected Players Ahead of 2017 MLS Expansion Draft

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution have protected 11 players from selection by Los Angeles FC in the 2017 MLS Expansion Draft to be held on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 2:00 p.m. ET. In addition to two Homegrown Players who are automatically exempt from the draft, 13 Revolution players will be ineligible for selection in Tuesday's draft.


The Revolution's Protected Player List includes forward Juan Agudelo, forward Teal Bunbury, goalkeeper Cody Cropper, defender Antonio Delamea (international), defender Claude Dielna (international), midfielder Diego Fagundez, defender Andrew Farrell, midfielder Gershon Koffie (international), forward Krisztián Németh (international), midfielder Lee Nguyen, and midfielder Kelyn Rowe.


In addition, midfielders Scott Caldwell and Zachary Herivaux are automatically protected as Homegrown Players who finished the 2017 season on the club’s supplemental/reserve roster. Per MLS rules, New England was required to protect a minimum of three international players.

Tuesday's MLS Expansion Draft will consist of five total picks by LAFC as the club builds its roster ahead of its inaugural MLS campaign in 2018. Following the MLS Expansion Draft, the next phases of the offseason calendar are the MLS Waiver Draft on Dec. 13 and the MLS Re-Entry Draft on Dec. 15 (Stage 1) and Dec. 21 (Stage 2).
