Revolution Academy Update: April 6, 2017

Youth team vs. Impact

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy returned to the pitch this past weekend when all four teams travelled to Connecticut for matches against Beachside SC. The Under-18s and Under-16s squared off on Saturday, April 1 in Bridgeport, Conn., while the Under-14s and Under-13s played their matches on Sunday, April 2 in Danbury, Conn.


The Under-16s will head to Frisco, Texas this weekend for the Generation adidas Cup Finals. The Under-16s will be competing in Group B of the Premier Division and are set to play the Philadelphia Union (April 7), the Chicago Fire (April 9), and C.F. Monterrey (April 11). The U-16s will finish the tournament with a pair of matches yet to be determined on Thursday, April 13 and Saturday, April 15. The match against C.F. Monterrey, which kicks off at 12:15p.m. ET, will be livestreamed on Major League Soccer’s YouTube Channel.


In addition, an Under-12 team featuring players from Revolution Academy U-12 Alliance partner clubs Bayside FC, NEFC, and Valeo FC will be competing in the 7-v-7 tournament next Thursday, April 13. That team will play in Group D of the competition and will square off with Seattle Sounders FC (April 13), New York Red Bulls (April 13), Houston Dynamo (April 14), and Malaga C.F. (April 14). The U-12s will close out the tournament on Saturday, April 15 with a pair of matches yet to be determined.


The Under-14s and Under-13s are set to continue their USSDA schedules and will host New York Soccer Club at East Providence High School on Saturday, April 8.


The New England Revolution Academy in conjunction with U12 Alliance partner clubs will be holding a series of player identification clinics for boys in 2006 & 2007 birth years for the upcoming 2017-18 U.S. Soccer Development Academy season. WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

  • Forward Jeremy Rodriguez '03 (North Andover, Mass.) registered a hat trick as the U-13s went on to defeat Beachside SC, 5-3. The hat trick is the fourth of the season for the U-13s, with Brandonn Bueno '04 (Framingham, Mass.) (twice) and Andrew Serafino '03 (East Longmeadow, Mass.) previously recording the feat.
  • Forward Tim Ennin '00 (East Hartford, Conn.) found the back of the net for the U-18s in their 2-1 defeat. The forward now has two goals on the season, both of which have come while playing up with the U-18s. Ennin will be one of 20 Revolution Academy players participating in this weekend’s Generation adidas Cup.
  • Forward Gustavo Casemiro '00 (Framingham, Mass.) scored a 79th minute goal to pull the U-16s level with Beachside SC for a 1-1 draw. The goal is Cassemiro’s sixth of the season. He will be participating in this weekend’s Generation adidas Cup.
  • Midfielder David Medeiros '02 (Attleborough, Mass.) scored his first goal of the season in the U-14s’ 3-1 defeat at Beachside SC.
  • Forward Brandonn Bueno '04 (Framingham, Mass.) and midfielder Hikaru Fujiwara ’03 (Lexington, Mass.) each registered a goal and an assist for the U-13s. Bueno has 11 goals and four assists on the season, while Fujiwara has three tallies and two helpers on the year.
