FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution II (7-2-3, 25 pts.) tied 1-1 with Rochester New York FC (4-4-3, 18 pts.), but fell in the penalty kick shootout, 5-4 on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium. Brazilian midfielder Ryan Lima scored his second goal of the season in the 59th minute while Jacob Jackson made three saves in the match.

Rochester opened the scoring in the 23rd minute to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. In the 59th minute, Ítalo sent the ball in from midfield directly to Lima, who headed the ball in from the center of the box into the top left corner. This marks the midfielder’s second goal of the season as he continues to lead the team with 24 shots and nine on target. Ítalo also recorded his first assist with Revolution II on the play. New England collected 10 shots to Rochester’s seven as Dias and Michel each paced Revs II with two each.

"Yeah, Ítalo serves great balls into the box," Head Coach Clint Peay stated. "It's one of the things that he does particularly well. Rvan [Lima] is very clever and has a nose for the goal and I just think he saw the keeper a little bit off and just headed into the back post over the keepers head, so it was a brilliant finish for him and well taken."

With the game remaining tied after 90 minutes, New England headed to its third penalty kick shootout of the MLS NEXT Pro season. Marcos Dias, Noel Buck, Sean O’Hearn, and Jack Panayotou each scored on their opportunities, but Rochester was able to score on all five of its chances to secure the extra point.

“Focusing on ourselves," Revolution II midfielder Trevor Zwetsloot said of the team's focus heading into next week. "I think that as long as we keep our heads and continue to play our brand of football, we can take it to any team in this league and look to be really successful this year, so we’ll be focusing on sort of moving the ball around as quickly as possible defending as a unit.”

New England returns to action on Sunday, June 26 as Revolution II travels to take on Chicago Fire FC II at SeatGeek Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 5:00 p.m. ET on MLSNEXTPro.com.
