CURRENT FORM
New England Revolution
3rd in Eastern Conference (9-5-3, 30 pts.)
Last Result | 2-2 draw at CF Montréal
The Revs have been unbeaten since returning from the World Cup break, and although they improved their away record in Montréal last week with a 2-2 draw at Stade Saputo, they were disappointed not to walk away with all three points after relinquishing a halftime lead. Back home now to face the Houston Dynamo, the Revs will hope to add another win to their 8-1-1 home record ahead of a two-game road swing.
The Revolution have been one of the strongest teams in the league at home, earning 25 of their 30 points at Gillette Stadium. Last time out in Foxborough, they took down Atlanta United FC, 4-1, and it wasn’t their only high-scoring victory as hosts. New England have scored 21 of their 28 goals playing at home. With the unique chance to play a Western Conference side, the Revs will be gunning for the three points to stay up in the Eastern standings.
Houston Dynamo FC
4th in Western Conference (9-6-2, 29 pts.)
Last Result | 2-0 win at Sporting Kansas City
Like New England, the Dynamo have been unbeaten since returning from the midseason break for the FIFA World Cup. Currently on a five-game unbeaten streak, Houston have secured two straight shutout wins as they look north to Gillette Stadium.
Houston sits fourth in the West, just one point behind New England in the Supporters’ Shield standings. While the Revs hold a slight statistical edge, the two teams are quite evenly matched. The Dynamo have scored 25 goals to the Revs’ 28 and conceded 24, compared to New England’s 21 goals against. As Houston heads to Foxborough, Saturday’s matchup could be tightly contested.
KEY PLAYERS
Revolution winger Jack Harrison
English winger Jack Harrison is the Revolution’s newest signing, joining the club as a Designated Player. After completing his first week of training in New England, his match fitness is still being evaluated. Although it’s uncertain just how many minutes he will see on Saturday, the attacker is expected to make his debut in front of the home crowd.
Harrison returns to MLS after nine seasons in Europe, where he made 181 Premier League appearances and recorded 45 goal contributions with Leeds United and Everton in the English topflight. He was a key figure in Leeds’ attack during his time at the club, totaling 219 appearances and 66 goal involvements. As he prepares for his first MLS appearance since 2017, Harrison could provide an immediate boost to the Revolution attack.
Houston midfielder Guilherme
Since joining Houston at the start of the season, Guilherme has made an immediate impact in MLS. The Brazilian midfielder has quickly emerged as one of the league’s most productive attacking contributors, recording 10 goals and seven assists through 17 games. He leads the Dynamo in both categories, while also topping the team in nearly every major attacking statistic.
Guilherme has shown his attacking prowess in recent weeks, registering two goals and two assists across his last two appearances for Houston. Riding a strong run of form, the midfielder will continue to be a focal point of the Dynamo attack on Saturday.
HEAR FROM THE TEAM
Head coach Marko Mitrović on Jack Harrison’s first week of training with the team:
“Jack is a great professional. For someone who missed the whole preseason and played his last game more than two months ago, he came in very good shape. Obviously, this is still preseason for Jack. We have to understand that for the last 10 years, the summer and this time of the year he probably only played friendly games and had training sessions. So, we are trying to build Jack into his game fitness and also get him going with the group to understand what we are trying to achieve on the field and the way we are trying to achieve that. But I can see great progress from Jack, and I’m actually very happy with the way everything has gone so far with Jack.”
Assistant coach Blair Gavin on the opportunity to play at home on Saturday before a two-game road swing:
"We love being at home with the fans, [with] the energy. We're going to take every game as a great opportunity to be in front of them and play our brand the best that we can with the support behind us and push forward."
Midfielder Brooklyn Raines on playing against his former club on Saturday:
"I've already been talking to a few of my teammates already just about the game, and other stuff. For me, it's really exciting just to kind of get to see old faces, but then again get to go up against some of my best friends. To be honest, I can't really say anything bad about Houston. They've given me everything, from starting with a second team and being able to make my debut, and then kind of just go up from there. Then obviously being a starter last season. So, for me it's both excitement and just wanting to go out there and have fun, but also win."
