Revolution II head to North Carolina on Friday looking to snap a four-match winless skid and return to the win column. Despite its recent run of results, New England has remained effective away from home this season, earning points in eight of its 11 road contests. Friday's match marks the fourth all-time MLS NEXT Pro meeting between Revolution II and Carolina Core FC, with New England trailing the series, 1-2-0, and still in search of its first victory at Truist Point Stadium. Carolina enters the contest on the heels of consecutive defeats after being eliminated from playoff contention last week.
New England closed out its 2026 regular-season home slate on Sunday at Beirne Stadium, with first-team forward Marcos Zambrano opening the scoring inside the opening 10 minutes. Forward/winger Myles Morgan recorded the assist, his sixth straight match with a goal contribution. The Canada native continues to lead New England's attack with 15 goal contributions this season, including 13 goals and two assists.
In his debut campaign with Revolution II, Morgan has placed himself firmly in the MLS NEXT Pro Golden Boot race, as his 13 goals are tied for third in the league, while he also ranks fourth in shots (84) and fifth in shots on target (34). The 21-year-old attacker will seek his 14th goal of the season on Friday, which would make him the club’s single-season scoring leader. Morgan has already set a club record this season by scoring in five consecutive matches from Aug. 2 through Aug. 22.
Zambrano made an immediate impact in his 2026 MLS NEXT Pro debut, scoring New England’s lone goal while adding two key passes. Sunday’s match also featured the league debut of Tylon Smith, who joined the first-team roster last month. Smith, a South Africa youth international, completed all 16 of his passes in a 45-minute shift. Revolution II also welcomed back key contributors Jayden Da and Damario McIntosh from injury, with the latter aiming to build on his MLS NEXT Pro career-high four helpers this season.
Revolution II continue to benefit from a strong pipeline of Academy talent in the 2026 campaign. Academy forward Matthew Jean Baptiste, 16, has continuously provided a spark in the final third, totaling seven goal contributions with five goals and two assists. Midfielders Cristiano Oliveira and Javaun Mussenden have also been a consistent presence in New England's attack. Oliveira, a Somerville, Mass. native, leads Revolution II with 47 key passes, ranking fifth leaguewide, and has distributed a team-high seven assists. Mussenden has started 18 of his 19 appearances this season and owns four goal contributions.
