New England Revolution release midfielder Arnór Traustason

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution announced today that the club has mutually agreed to part ways with midfielder Arnór Traustason and terminated his MLS contract effective August 9. Following the transaction, New England currently has one available international roster slot.

Traustason, 29, joined the Revolution last season from Swedish club Malmö FF and proceeded to collect two goals and seven assists over 29 appearances, 19 of them starts, in 2021 for the Supporters’ Shield winners. The midfielder registered 15 appearances, including five starts, with one assist in the 2022 campaign.

The Revolution resume the 2022 MLS regular season on Saturday, August 13 when the club welcomes D.C. United to Gillette Stadium. The 7:30 p.m. ET match airs locally on WSBK-TV38, myRITV (Rhode Island), 98.5 The Sports Hub, and 1260 AM Nossa Radio (Portuguese).
