TORONTO (August 15, 2026) – The New England Revolution (9-7-3, 30 pts.) saw their late comeback bid fall short in a 2-1 loss to Toronto FC (4-7-8, 20 pts.) on Saturday night at BMO Field. New England outshot the hosts 25-3 and controlled 65 percent of the possession, but Toronto capitalized on their few chances and built a two-goal advantage before halftime before Revolution forward Wilson Harris pulled one back in the closing minutes of the contest. Winger Jack Harrison recorded the assist in his first start for New England, finishing the night with four shots and five key passes in his 90-minute shift.
The Revolution started the contest on the front foot, nearly opening the scoring in the fifth minute. Carles Gil delivered a dangerous corner kick into the box that met the chest of Peyton Miller, who set himself up for an ambitious scissor-kick attempt. The Homegrown winger struck it cleanly and delivered a powerful effort on target, but it was too close to Toronto's goalkeeper, who parried the shot away.
Harrison, making his first MLS start since 2017 after logging 36 minutes in his club debut last weekend, came inches away from the breakthrough in the 18th minute. Harrison took on his defender inside the box and deftly set up a left-footed shot, a quick stepover move to set up a left-footed shot. The longtime Premier League attacker showed no hesitation, unleashing a driven strike that appeared destined for the upper-left corner, but the attempt narrowly sailed over the crossbar.
Despite generating several promising chances in the opening half, Toronto scored on both of their first-half shot attempts to take a two-goal lead into the intermission. The host's opener came when Theo Corbeanu's low cross deflected off Revolution defender Will Sands and snuck inside Matt Turner's near post. Toronto newcomer Niklas Dorsch then doubled the lead moments later, blasting a rocket into the top-right corner from long range.
Harrison continued to provide a spark for New England in the second half, carving out back-to-back chances around the hour mark. In the 59th minute, Matt Polster found the English attacker open in the middle of the box. Harrison settled the pass and fired a shot off the woodwork. Moments later, he combined with defender Ethan Kohler in a quick give-and-go sequence, but his ensuing effort was blocked by a Toronto defender.
After a red card was shown to Toronto’s Djordje Mihailovic for a foul from behind on Gil, the Revolution re-established offensive control and cut into the deficit in the final minute of regulation. Center back Mamadou Fofana linked up with Harrison outside Toronto's 18-yard box, and Harrison delivered a floated cross into the area. Harris, a 72nd-minute substitute, climbed above his defender and powered a header into the back of the net for the first goal of his MLS career. Fofana and Harrison were both credited with assists, marking each player's first helper of the season.
The Revolution will remain on the road for a midweek match against D.C. United on Wednesday, August 19.
