RECENT FORM VS. PHILADELPHIA UNION
This will be the 33rd meeting between the New England Revolution and Philadelphia Union in all competitions, with a whopping six of those battles taking place in 2020.
These two sides met four times in last year’s regular season and once more in the MLS is Back Tournament knockout stage, with the Revs going 0-4-1. However, New England defeated Philadelphia when it mattered most, with a 2-0 win at Subaru Park in Round One of the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. Goals from Adam Buksa and Tajon Buchanan lifted the Revs to victory on their way to the Eastern Conference Final.
This is the first clash of these Eastern foes in the 2021 campaign. The Revs are coming off their first loss of the season, 2-0 to Nashville SC at Nissan Stadium, and are looking to bounce back midweek at Philly. Meanwhile, the Union will host the Revs after returning from a 2-0 victory at Chicago Fire FC. Four games into the season, Philly is 1-2-1 (4 points) and the Revs are 2-1-1 (7 points).
With seven points, the Revs are tied atop the East with New York City FC. As New England looks to climb to No. 1 with a win at Philly, this will be a battle that you don’t want to miss.
