Kabala remains with U-17 Residency Program

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution Under-16 player Guyllain “Guy” Kabala (Manchester, N.H.) is among the 31 players selected to U.S. Soccer’s Under-17 Residency Program for its spring semester in Bradenton, Fla. Kabala joined the program in the fall of 2011, and is currently in his second semester of the two-year cycle in preparation for the 2013 CONCACAF U17 Championship.

While in the program, Kabala will live on campus at the IMG Academy and train in the morning under the guidance of new U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team head coach Richie Williams. In the afternoon, the players will attend classes at St. Stephens Episcopal School. The players will have access to IMG’s state-of-the-art strength-training facilities, as well as some of the nation’s best sports psychologists that work at the Academy.

“We are thrilled for Guy,” said Revolution Director of Youth Development and Under-16 Head Coach Bryan Scales. “He had a very good fall semester in Bradenton, and put in quality performances at the Nike Friendlies, where he helped the U17s capture the title against the likes of Turkey, France and Brazil. We’re proud that he has done well and look forward to his continued development in the Residency Program.”

Kabala is in his first year with the Revolution Under-16 team. The Manchester native joined the U17 Residency Program last fall, and has been named to several travel rosters since, including: Aegean Cup in Manisa, Turkey (Jan. 17-20), Nike International Friendlies in Sarasota, Fla. (Nov. 30-Dec.4), Val-de-Marne tournament in Paris, France (Oct. 25-29) and Albir Garden Sports Cup in L’Aflas Del Pi, Spain (Oct. 15-20). During the Val-de-Marne tournament, Kabala scored a goal against the Netherlands on Oct. 29. He also participated in two Under-15 Boys National Team training camps in 2011, the first in March and a second in July.
