Hey Junior Revs!
May was a packed month for the team! Not only did the team face six MLS teams in regular season competition, but they also played in two U.S. Open Cup games! Some highlights from the Open Cup include Tomas Chancalay scoring the FIRST EVER goal at Rhode Island FC's new stadium and nine players making their first-team debuts! Looking ahead, the Revs find themselves at home all through June, so be sure to check out everything we have planned on and off the pitch!
At our only home game in May, we celebrated AAPI month! In the Fan Zone, we welcomed Juno Jialu Zou, Anime Boston, RI Anime Con, the Japanese Association of Greater Boston, DJ Chareedz, the Consulate-General of Japan in Boston, and many great performing groups. Jialu designed a beautiful scarf for the match, which included blue waves and koi fish with hints of gold! I had a great time watching the performances, seeing the various cosplayers, and meeting you, of course!
In team news this month, both Allan Oyirwoth and Ignatius Ganago received call-ups to their respective national teams. We might even get to see these two face off when Uganda plays Cameroon in Morocco! Eric Klein also earned a spot on the first team roster, signing a Homegrown contract!
Lastly, the Revs hosted the 11th annual Unified Team Signing Day, where 19 Special Olympics athletes and local Unified partner athletes signed on as official New England Revolution players! The Unified Team will play in two matches, one at home on the Gillette Stadium turf on June 28 (make sure to stick around to watch them) and then on the road at Charlotte FC.
