Herivaux, Haiti aim to continue magical Gold Cup run in semifinals vs. Mexico

Zach Herivaux with Haiti

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Following a historic 3-2 win over Canada in the quarterfinals, Zach Herivaux and Haiti are set for a clash with Concacaf juggernaut Mexico in the Gold Cup semifinals on Tuesday night (10:30 p.m. ET, FS1).

Herivaux was an 83rd-minute substitute in Saturday night’s quarterfinal victory over Canada, helping Les Grenadiers close out the win after erasing a 2-0 halftime deficit and securing their first-ever trip to the semifinals of the regional competition.

Haiti was a perfect 3-0-0 in the group stage, and Herivaux played a big role. The 23-year-old New England Revolution midfielder went the full 90 minutes in the first two group matches, wins over Bermuda and Nicaragua, and has now made 11 appearances at the full international level.

Should the Haitians continue their Cinderella run and take down Mexico, they’d meet the winner of the other semifinal between the United States and Jamaica in the Concacaf Gold Cup Final on Sunday.
