Academy Update | Under-19s kick off spring season with win over Red Bulls

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The Revolution Academy Under-19 team opened its spring season on Sunday with a 2-1 victory over the New York Red Bulls Academy Under-19 squad at Gillette Stadium.


Next Saturday, March 14, all four New England Revolution Academy teams will be in action at Gillette Stadium. The Under-19s, Under-17s, and Under-15s will host the Montreal Impact while the Under-14s will host Valeo Futbol Club.


WEEKHIGHLIGHTS


  • Defender Nathan Metsack (Ashford, Conn. – 2001) tallied his first goal of the 2019-20 season to open the scoring in Sunday night’s match.
  • Midfielder Kaoru Fujiwara (Lexington, Mass. – 2001) netted what wound up being the game-winner four minutes after Metsack’s strike. It was his first goal of the spring season and his sixth in 2019-20 overall.
  • Goalkeeper Austin Causey (Groton, Mass. – 2001) played the full 90 minutes between the sticks, recording four saves and anchoring an impressive performance by the backline.
