Academy Update | Revs continue fall season against NYCFC, PDA, BW Gottschee

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – All four New England Revolution Academy teams continued their fall campaigns last weekend. The Under-19s, Under-17s, and Under-15s visited New York City FC in New York, as well as the Players Development Academy in New Jersey, while the Under-14s hosted BW Gottschee Academy at Gillette Stadium.


The Revolution U-17 and U-15 sides are currently participating in regional qualifying for the 13th edition of the Generation adidas Cup, taking place at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Pa. All matches will be streaming live via the Philadelphia Union (click here). Both sides opened play against Inter Miami CF today, October 11, and will also face Real Salt Lake (Oct. 12) and the Philadelphia Union (Oct. 14).


WEEKHIGHLIGHTS


·        Midfielder Kaoru Fujiwara (Lexington, Mass. — 2001) scored his fourth goal of the 2019-20 season in the U-19's match on Oct. 6 vs. Players Development Academy. Fujiwara's leads the Revolution's U-19 squad with four goals on the year.


·        Forward Gevork Diarbian (Cranston, R.I. — 2001) scored for a second straight week in the U-19's match on Oct. 6 vs. Players Development Academy.


·        Midfielder Hikaru Fujiwara (Lexington, Mass. — 2003) tallied for the second time this season in the U-17's 2-0 win on Oct. 5 vs. New York City FC.


·        Goalkeeper Matthew Tibbetts (Westborough, Mass. — 2004) recorded three saves and anchoring the U-17s to a clean sheet in its 2-0 win on Oct. 5 vs. New York City FC.


·        Forward Malcolm Fry (Groton, Mass. — 2005) scored three goals over the weekend, including a brace in the U-15's 4-1 win on Oct. 5 vs. Players Development Academy. Forward Jordi Tornberg Ayala (Revere, Mass. — 2006) also registered a brace in the same match.
