Head Coach, Under-14s

T.J. Love is in his second season with the New England Revolution Academy as head coach of the Under-14 team. Love brings over 10 years of coaching experience to the Academy, including six years as an assistant coach with Cornell University.

During his first season, Love led the Revolution Under-14 team to a first-place finish in the Trophy Bracket of the 2019 International Champions Cup Futures Tournament, leading his team to wins over Benfica, Arsenal, and Inter Miami.

Prior to starting his time as a Revolution Academy head coach ahead of the 2019-20 season, Love most recently served as Coach of Black Rock FC in Great Barrington, Mass. of USL League Two from May through July 2019. From 2018-19, he also served as Head Coach of the Black Rock FC U-17 & U-16 Elite sides.

Love’s decade of coaching experience is highlighted by six years as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator with Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y from 2010-16. With Big Red, Love was a member of a staff that coached the team to four straight winning seasons from 2011-2014, as well as a 2012 Ivy League Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. Additionally, the team broke the record for goals against average in each of his last three years at Cornell from 2012-14.

After his time at Cornell, Love remained in the Ivy League after accepting an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator position with Yale University in New Haven, Conn. With Yale from 2016-18, Love helped turn around a struggling Bulldogs program, guiding the team to its first winning season since 2011 during the 2018 campaign. The 2018 season in New Haven saw wins over recent Ivy League champions Princeton, as well as a tie vs. Michigan State, who made an appearance in the Final Four. The impressive string of results came from a Yale team that boasted an RPI of 76—the team’s highest-ranking since 2011.

Love carries a U.S. Soccer “B” License, after completing the necessary coursework in September 2019. Before Cornell University, Love coached as an Assistant and Goalkeeper Coach with the Elmira College women’s soccer team in Elmira, N.Y. At the MLS level, he has shadowed the first teams and academies of D.C. United, New York Red Bulls, NYCFC, and the Philadelphia Union, attending training sessions and exchanging knowledge with various MLS coaches.

As a player, Love was a three-year starter for Daemen College from 2003-05, and served as a team captain for two seasons. He earned a Bachelor’s in Psychology at Daemen College in Amherst, N.Y., as well as a Master’s in Education at Elmira College in Elmira, N.Y.
