Michael Morris is entering his first season as an Assistant Coach with the New England Revolution. Hired on December 4, 2025 following 16 years in the Seattle Sounders organization, the last five of which were spent with the club’s developmental team, Tacoma Defiance, Morris reunites with Marko Mitrović after serving as his assistant with the United Stated Under-20 team in 2025, including at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

Morris, 41, is a USSF A License holder who helped oversee the development of 18 first-team players during his time in Seattle, including notable names like Obed Vargas, Paul Rothrock, Jackson Ragen, and Danny Leyva. Morris entered the coaching ranks in 2009 with the Seattle Sounders Academy. A longtime integral member of the club’s development programs, he led the U-15, U-16, and U-19 sides during his tenure, while also serving as a lead scout. Morris also oversaw Sounders FC’s Youth Camps, expanding the program under his leadership to offer a wide variety of programs for boys and girls of all ages.

After 11 years with the Sounders Academy, Morris was promoted to Assistant Coach and Head of Methodology for the club’s developmental side, Tacoma Defiance, ahead of the 2021 campaign. Morris held the role for four seasons until being named interim head coach in July 2025. Throughout the 2025 season, Morris also spent time working alongside Mitrović as an assistant coach for the United States U-20 side. He was a member of the staff for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, in which the U.S. advanced to the Quarterfinals before falling to eventual champion Morocco. Following the U-20 World Cup, Morris served as head coach for the United States U-21 side in its return to international competition, leading the squad in a pair of friendly matches against Denmark and Serbia and November 2025.

As a player, Morris spent two seasons with the Seattle Sounders prior to their expansion into MLS. Morris was a member of the Sounders’ 2007 USL First Division title-winning team. The Washington native turned professional following a successful four-year career at Seattle Pacific University. Over his four years, the Falcons posted a 49-21-7 record, won a share of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference in 2006, along with a pair of NCAA Tournament berths.
