Josh Williams is in his third season with the New England Revolution and his second year as the club’s Head Athletic Trainer and Director of Sports Medicine. Promoted to the position in January 2023, Williams previously served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Revolution. Williams brings 13 years of experience as an athletic trainer, including time in MLS, NWSL, and the NCAA. As Head Athletic Trainer, Williams manages the day-to-day operations of the athletic training staff including supervision of MLS, MLS NEXT Pro, and Academy athletes.

Williams joined New England’s staff in January 2022 after three seasons as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for Minnesota United FC from 2018-20. He was hired by Minnesota in 2018 as an Intern Athletic Trainer, working his way up to the assistant role for his second and third seasons with the Loons. In his role, Williams was responsible for providing traditional athletic training services including prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation to professional athletes.

Before moving to MLS, Williams served as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Tacoma Stars of the Major Arena Soccer League in his native Washington. Simultaneously, Williams also worked as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Seattle Reign FC of the National Women’s Soccer League from 2015-17. Prior to his time working in professional soccer, Williams served as an Athletic Trainer at two NCAA Division I institutions –the University of Washington (2013-14) and Wagner College (2014-15).

Williams was a Graduate Assistant at Georgia Southern University while earning his master’s degree in kinesiology. Williams received his bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Washington State University. Born and raised in Tacoma, Washington, Williams is a lifelong soccer fan.
