Revs to play Saturday in Orlando City Invitational

DL - Orlando City Invitational

BRADENTON, Fla. – The New England Revolution will leave their preseason home ground at IMG Academy on Saturday as they travel for a day trip to Orlando City Stadium, where they will compete in the inaugural Orlando City Invitational.

The tournament will take place both on February 16 and 20, with four MLS teams competing throughout the two days. The Revs will first face Minnesota United FC on Saturday, followed by a match against Orlando City SC on Wednesday.

“It’s just another preseason game,” said head coach Brad Friedel.

“We’ll look to get a few more minutes for some of the players that didn’t get bulk minutes yesterday. We'll get them tomorrow, and then we’ll ramp up for the Orlando and Reykjavik games.”

This will be the first MLS team that the Revs will face during preseason, as they competed against top international talent throughout their previous two weeks spent training in Marbella, Spain.

“We’re really looking forward to it,” said Jalil Anibaba ahead of Saturday’s match against Minnesota. “I think these games are only getting more and more important.

“We’ve had some good competition in Spain and then yesterday’s game was a good test for us, so playing MLS teams is obviously what we need to be good at, so it will be a good test tomorrow.”

Kickoff against Minnesota United is set for 4:30 p.m. ET. There will not be a live stream for this match. However, there will be coverage from the team twitter account (@NERevolution) and a highlight package to follow after the match.
