We Are New England | Kick for Dana-Farber and the quest to cure cancer

Ten years ago, a single freak play on the soccer field changed the course of Phil Anas Jr.'s life forever.

After he was knocked unconscious in a collision with an opponent, Anas Jr. learned that scans had revealed something much worse - a cancerous tumor on his brain. The shock diagnosis threw his life into upheaval, but soon, the road to recovery began.

Throughout his journey - which has been filled with ups and downs - Anas Jr. has stayed active in the game of soccer, coaching at a local high school and working as a Patient Partner with the Kick for Dana-Farber program, which fund raises through local soccer teams.

This is his story.
