The Kickoff: Revolution vs. Philadelphia Union | July 20 | U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinals

Hear from Femi Hollinger-Janzen, Jordan McCrary and Jay Heaps as the Revs prepare for their round U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinal match against the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday, July 20 at Harvard University's Jordan Field.

New England Revolution Head Coach Jay Heaps

On Andrew Farrell’s selection to the 2016 AT&T MLS All-Star Game:

Coach Heaps: “I feel like it’s well deserved. Andrew has worked hard this year. We’ve moved him around, switching positions. That’s not easy because I think, mentally, he came into this year wanting to be a center back, but playing right back, he’s been really good and actually been an uptick for our group. Not only has he been good on the field, he’s also the consummate professional, always there every day, works extremely hard in training. It’s exciting to see him rewarded for his efforts.”

On balancing the lineup for Wednesday’s U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinal against Philadelphia:

Coach Heaps: “This is a one-off tournament, so you have to prepare yourself for these types of games. Every time you get a little further, [the Open Cup game] is going to come midweek, so you’ve got to use your depth, but also now you get closer to being in a final. We have to make sure that we prepare the right way, use a certain number of guys that are ready, guys that are fit, blend it with a couple new additions to the lineup and really give them our best effort, because I think anyone going into [a chance at] the semifinal, especially playing at home, it’s a really good opportunity.”

On playing at Jordan Field in Boston:

Coach Heaps: “It’s exciting for fans. I think they get a little closer to the action, so they get to see it from a different angle. Unfortunately, we’re not as used to the field as we are our home field, so there is a disadvantage to a certain degree. With that said, I think it gives fans that are in Boston a little different feel and our fans that go to every game are going to be excited to go there for a tight atmosphere.”

On the challenges of facing the Philadelphia Union:

Coach Heaps: “Philly is a really good team. They’re at the top of [the Eastern Conference] table – them and New York [City FC]. For me, obviously, we have to be prepared for a team that’s playing really well right now, playing confidently. Like you said, [Philadelphia] showed a lot of character coming back [in Sunday night’s comeback win against the New York Red Bulls]. We have to prepare ourselves and be ready to show what we’re made of.”

New England Revolution Forward Femi Hollinger-Janzen

On Wednesday’s Open Cup Quarterfinal vs. the Philadelphia Union:

Hollinger-Janzen: “The Quarterfinal is now and we’re really excited for Wednesday’s game. Last time we played Philly, they kind of took it to us. This is definitely a time for us to be the aggressors and have more energy when we step onto the field.”

On being three games away from a trophy:

Hollinger-Janzen: “We definitely want to win. We want to win that cup. Going forward, just have the right mentality. Step up there, be tough, and know that Philly is a good team that’s going to be coming at us. [We’ve] just got to be ready when we step on the field.”

On playing at Jordan Field in Boston:

Hollinger-Janzen: “It’s definitely going to be fun being closer to Boston and
