FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution midfielder Lee Nguyen has been nominated for the Best MLS Player award at the 2015 ESPY Awards for his performance during the 2014 MLS season. Nguyen scored a career-best 18 goals and added five assists in 32 games for New England during the 2014 regular season. A finalist for the MLS MVP award, Nguyen was named to the MLS Best XI and selected as the Revolution 2014 MVP while helping lead the club back to MLS Cup for the first time since 2007.

Fans can vote for Nguyen as the Best MLS Player at ESPYS.com. Voting is underway now and all categories will close on Wednesday, July 15, at 8 p.m. ET at the beginning of The ESPYS’ live broadcast from the Nokia Theatre Los Angeles on ABC.

Of Nguyen’s 18 goals in 2014, nine were game-winning goals – setting a new club record and equaling the second-best total in MLS history. He finished 2014 as the top scoring American in MLS last season, as well as the top scoring midfielder in MLS history, while his 18 goals were the most by a Revolution player since 2002. Nguyen went on to add two goals and three assists in five games during the MLS Cup Playoffs, helping the Revs win the Eastern Conference Championship and return to MLS Cup. As a result of his play during the 2014 season, the 28-year-old Texas native also earned a recall to the U.S. National Team for the first time since 2007, playing in a friendly against Colombia on November 15.
