New England Revolution Head Coach Jay Heaps
On tonight's game...
I want to credit a good team. I think Dallas played well. They're a good team, but tonight, in terms of energy and effort, it was a great bounce back for us. We made one mistake in the first half, and we got punished for it. It was a quick free kick. Quite frankly, I didn't think it was a foul on our guy. It was a foul on their guy. The ball was moving, they played it quickly, credit (Adam) Moffat that played it, one ball through and then they stayed in that positive area. It was a good goal. There's a lot to be said, but we've got to keep fighting, keep going forward, and try to get back out of this.

On the five changes he made to tonight's starting lineup...
The other night (5-1 loss at Los Angeles) we got our noses rubbed in it. The last seven games have been absolutely gut wrenching, with highs and lows in this big low. Tonight's effort, you just felt from the beginning we were going to be good enough to get something from this game, but we didn't and that's the way it goes.

New England Revolution Forward Charlie Davies
On his first start since 2011...
I was very excited to finally get an opportunity to help the team try and get out of this rut and showcase what I can do. It was one of those times where I feel like I've worked so hard to prepare myself for this moment, and I'm happy I took this step forward.

On the difficulty of breaking down FC Dallas...
They just stayed compact and sat back and let us play. For us, we need to work on that final ball. I think that's what we're missing is just that final ball. We had possession in their half, we controlled parts of the game , it was unfortunate we couldn't break them down and it got a little bit frustrating for us. Obviously, from us being a little bit tired we let down and they were able to counter and score off a set piece.

New England Defender Chris Tierney
Overall thoughts on tonight's game and the end of their roadtrip...
Disappointed in the result, obviously. We wanted to take something from the game. We set out to be solid defensively early, we worked our butts off. You can't question the commitment and the effort tonight. Both spot on. Unlucky to concede in the first half, but couldn't come from behind to equalize. It's a tough one to take, especially on this stretch of games that we're on now, but we've got a home game coming up and the way that things are going in the league, we're still amazingly in a decent position so if we play the way we know we can then things will turn around and we'll be fine.

FC Dallas Head coach Oscar Pareja
Overall thoughts on the game…
Tonight we raised the bar and the team feels that we are competing for a high spot in the league.  It was great to see the discipline and the composure that the team showed with a team that we respect a lot.  We knew that [New England] were struggling for results, but that didn't factor into our approach to the game. I was very pleased to see the team in that mode of respect and giving a professional performance.
In the first half it took us probably 12 minutes to figure it out; the new players that came today weren't in our plan and we didn't adjust well in the beginning.  I think that after the 12 minutes, we started to get our things going. I saw the team creating opportunities while playing very well defensively and creating the best soccer in the field.

In the second half we kept the same plan. We didn't change.  We knew that New England was going to bring some substitutions, some fresh legs. We let them have the ball and attacked by transition. Defensively, we kept our composure and the solidness until they created one chance late in the second half.

Thoughts Ahead of Long Stretch of Games…
The group is seeing more solidness defending, which is something that we needed to improve. In the league so far, even in the times when we were struggling, we were scoring most, and today was very solid defensively.
We set the bar high today and we know we can do it. We have a good stretch of games, the youngsters are playing very well and I'm very happy to see these guys taking advantage of the opportunity and making this club proud.  I feel that there is a great and bright future.

Competition for Positions…
When we had so many players hurt, it was an opportunity to grow the youngsters. Players who wanted the opportunity stepped in and grew.  Now we have a deeper roster and we have a team that is competing for positions, which is something that I like. We're growing, this team is certainly growing.

On Zach Loyd…
Tonight was Zach Loyd at his best.  That's the player that I wanted last year to go to the club that I was coaching and at the beginning of this year, it took him a little while to get back to his old self.  The Zach Loyd we saw today was the Zach Loyd that was called to the national team.

Ahead of Midweek Friendly…
We already have a plan for the game.  We want some players to have some minutes. We take this with a lot of responsibility since it is a very high pedigree team that is coming to our town. We want our fans to come, enjoy the game and be proud of our club.  Our approach for the game is professional. We have a game on Sunday, so that will buy us a little bit more time to recover. The standards that our players have put for themselves are high.

General thoughts on the match…

I thought we came out strong in the second half. We’re really happy with the result. The time off was really good for us. It gave us time to refresh and get ready for the second half of the season. We really showed up tonight – played well from the first whistle to the last.

On the team’s third shutout of the season…

It always feels good to get the shutout when you are a defender. We were excited after the game. Overall, it was a great result for us, especially the back four and the goalkeeper. There’s a little bit of a pride thing. Hopefully we can build off of this going into the second half of the season.

On Oscar Pareja’s comments about ‘this being the Zach Loyd that he knows – the Zach Loyd that was getting called in by the U.S. National Team…’

It’s just the product of getting games under my belt and building. Like I said, the break was really good for us. We had a really tough two months there – game after game after game. Finally, I’m getting closer to being fully healthy. The weather tonight was nice. It allowed me to run a little bit more. Overall, just continuing to play and stay healthy has been huge for me. Last season, I was playing through a couple injuries. It’s finally nice to go into a game feeling healthy.

FC Dallas forward Tesho Akindele

On his goal…

Victor [Ulloa] got the ball and I just saw [Andrew] Farrell isolated. I took off and Victor found me with the ball. It was a nice pass and I just knew I could take him one-on-one with speed.

On gaining confidence…

Confidence is everything. We’re all here because we are good players but the thing that separates the people who are playing from the people who are not playing is just the belief in ourselves. I’m starting to believe in myself more and more every match and it’s paying off.

On FC Dallas’ unbeaten run across seven games [in all competitions]…

Truthfully, we were playing well, even when we were losing. Now, things are just clicking a little more. We’re finishing our chances – ones that we were missing earlier in the year. There is not much difference in our play – we’re still working hard, just like we were. We’re just getting the little details right now. We’re finishing our chances and not losing concentration on defense.
