DL - Youth academy vs. BSC

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – All three of the New England Revolution’s youth teams – including the Under-14s in their season debut – were in action last weekend, taking on BSC CT Academy at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 14. The U18s earned a 6-0 victory, while the U16s and U14s suffered a pair of losses: 2-0 and 3-1, respectively.

UNDER-18s

The Under-18s earned a convincing 6-0 shutout victory against BSC CT Academy on Saturday, buoyed by six different goal-scorers. Gabe Gissie (Worcester, Mass.) put the Revs on the score sheet in the first minute of play, lobbing the goalkeeper. Adam Norman (Natick, Mass.) doubled New England’s advantage in the 22nd minute, burying a shot from outside the box into the lower right corner. In the 48th minute, Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) pounced on a free-kick deflection to score the Revs’ third goal. Declan McCabe (Weston, Mass.) and Danny Apajee (Cranston, R.I.) then netted shots of their own in the 52nd and 56th minutes, respectively. Freddie Ferre (Waltham, Mass.) topped it off with a 75th-minute goal to make the final score 6-0. Guy Kabala (Manchester, N.H.) picked up a pair of assists, while Norman registered one. Goalkeepers Austin Aviza (Medway, Mass.) and Bruce Johnson (Brewster, Mass.) – who replaced Aviza in the 38th minute after an injury – recorded three saves en route to the shut out.

UNDER-16s

The Under-16s suffered a 2-0 loss to BSC CT Academy on Saturday. BSC’s Geoffrey Gelorme scored in the 15th minute to give the visitors the lead, and New England pressed for the equalizer throughout the first half, with Michael Faria (West Warwick, R.I.), Justin Freitas (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Eddie Venta-Yepes (Lowell, Mass.) creating chances. Ultimately, Nicholas Petridis extended BSC’s lead in the 73rd minute, shutting the Revs out at home in their second match of the season.

UNDER-14s

The Under-14s suffered a 3-1 loss to BSC CT Academy on Saturday. Cameron Okoro finished his chance in the third minute to put BSC up early before Ahdan Tait doubled the lead in the ninth minute. Amos Shapiro (Worthington, Mass.) answered in the 12th minute, lobbing the goalkeeper after latching onto a short clearance. Revolution goalkeeper Sebastian Jaramillo (Dracut, Mass.) was ejected in the 72nd minute, forcing New England to sub on Eddie Walsh (Westwood, Mass.) and play down a man for the remaining eight minutes. Jonathon Filipe capitalized for BSC, scoring in the 80th minute to bring the final score to 3-1 in the visitors’ favor.

All three of the Revolution’s youth teams are in action again this coming weekend, when they will meet FC Bolts Celtic at Regis College on Saturday, Sept. 21.
