Additional seating opened for Brazil-Portugal match at Gillette Stadium

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The soccer attendance record in New England will be in jeopardy on Tuesday, Sept. 10, when the national teams of Brazil and Portugal meet at Gillette Stadium and a stadium sell-out is expected.


With more than 40,000 tickets to the game already sold in just two-and-a-half weeks, match organizers announced today that the 300-level of Gillette Stadium has been opened for the match. Tickets in the 300-level start at $50 and are on sale now through all Ticketmaster outlets and the Gillette Stadium box office by calling 1-877-GET-REVS. There are a limited number of seats in the lower bowl still available through the purchase of special package offers.

The current New England soccer attendance record of 67,684 was set at Gillette Stadium on Sept. 12, 2007, when the national teams of Brazil and Mexico met in an international friendly.


On Sept. 10, Brazil – the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup champion and currently ranked ninth in the world – will meet Portugal, the world’s seventh-ranked team. The match, which will be played during an official FIFA competition window, will feature the teams’ top squads, including two of the top three players in the world: Brazil’s Neymar and Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo


Other top Brazilian players from the team that won the Confederations Cup in late June – the preparation tournament for the 2014 FIFA World Cup – include Fred, Hulk, Thiago Silva and David Luiz.


Portugal’s call-ups for its recent World Cup qualifiers include Nani, Hélder Postiga, Pepe and Bruno Alves.


On Sept. 10, the Gillette Stadium gates will open at 6:30 p.m., and parking lots will open at 4:30 p.m. Gillette Stadium parking charges will apply for all fans.
