FRISCO, Texas – The New England Revolution Under-18 team suffered a 2-1 loss in its second game of the 2012-13 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Finals Week, giving up a pair of late goals once more to De Anza Force (Calif.).

The first half was notably even, with both teams creating chances. De Anza Force scored an apparent goal in the 27th minute, but it was called off for a foul against Revolution goalkeeper Matt Mozynski (Bellingham, Mass.). The Revs then responded in their attacking third, Danny Apajee (Cranston, R.I.) taking a shot before suffering a rough tackle in the box. Though New England did not get the penalty call, they capitalized on the resulting corner kick. Declan McCabe (Weston, Mass.) took the set piece, sending the ball in from the left. A scramble in the box ensued, and Peguy Ngatcha (Manchester, N.H.) emerged to put the ball in the back of the net. Apajee was credited with the assist.

The Force pressed early in the second half and had a header hit the post off a corner kick in the 57th minute. New England continued its own attack, with Apajee, Ngatcha and Dominik Machado (Attleboro, Mass.) coming close all before the 80th minute. But a pair of defensive miscues saw De Anza equalize in the 80th minute off a Revolution own goal and score the go-ahead in the 86th. Unable to recover, the Revs dropped its second consecutive game.

With the loss, New England sits in third place in Group 2 with 0 points and a -2 goal differential. In the other group game, Shattucks-Saint Mary’s topped St. Louis Scott Gallagher Missouri, 3-0, to lead the group with 6 points and a +4 goal differential. De Anza Force is in second with 6 points and a +3, and Scott Gallagher is in fourth place with 0 points and a -5.

With a rest day tomorrow, the Under-18s will play their third group game of Finals Week against St. Louis Scott Gallagher Missouri on Thursday, July 18, at 9:30 p.m. ET.
