Youth Update: FC Bolts Celtic

Youth update

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – On Sunday, Nov. 4, all three of the New England Revolution’s youth teams were in action, earning a combined 2-0-1 record against local rivals FC Bolts Celtic (formerly FC Greater Boston) at Mount Ida College in Newton, Mass.


UNDER-18s

The Under-18s topped FC Bolts Celtic, 3-1, on Sunday. Ramiro Osorio (Hooksett, N.H.) put the Revs ahead in the 21st minute, finishing a through ball from Willis Griffith (Amherst, N.H.). Lukas Ritzer equalized for the Bolts midway through the second half, but New England answered just three minutes later when Quenton Swift (Enfield, Conn.) found Freddie Ferre (Waltham, Mass.), who sent his left-footed shot into the upper corner of the goal in the 68th minute. Dominik Machado (Attleboro, Mass.) then added an insurance tally in stoppage time, making the final score 3-1.


UNDER-16s

The Under-16s drew the Bolts, 1-1, in their game on Sunday. Harrison Swartz opened scoring in the 18th minute, giving FC Bolts Celtic the advantage. The Bolts carried their lead into the second half, until the Revs produced a dramatic equalizer in the 77th minute. Steven Duncan (Barrington, R.I.) scored off a free kick, sending the ball past the goalkeeper from more than 20 yards out. New England recorded six shots, while goalkeeper Austin Aviza (Medway, Mass.) registered five saves en route to the draw.


UNDER-14s

The Under-14s earned a convincing 7-1 victory against the Bolts, improving their U.S. Club Soccer record to 4-1-0. Justin Rennicks (South Hamilton, Mass.) and (Nick Woodruff (Attleboro, Mass.) scored two goals each, with Rennicks also adding three assists on the day. Aaron James (Amherst, Mass.) scored a goal and added an assist, while Matt Ranieri (Natick, Mass.) and Jack O’Brien (Milton, Mass.) each also added a goal apiece. Daniel Jones (W. Hartford, Conn.) and Santiago Cardona (Winthrop, Mass.) registered single assists. With 2.25 points per game, the Revs currently sit in fifth place in U.S. Club Soccer’s 20-team Northeast Pre-Academy League.


The Under-18s and Under-16s are set to play two games apiece this weekend at Durfee High School in Fall River, Mass., when they face Seacoast United on Saturday, Nov. 10, before playing the Montreal Impact on Sunday, Nov. 11. The U14s are off both days, and will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 17.
