Revolution signs Gabe Latigue

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution has signed 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft pick Gabe Latigue, a midfielder out of Elon University. The Revs drafted Latigue in the fourth round – 61st overall – in this year’s supplemental draft.


“Gabe did well for himself during preseason training and earned his spot on our roster,” Revolution General Manager Michael Burns said. “He has shown he can fit in on either side of the midfield and has talent on set pieces. We’re looking forward to working with him further this season.”


Latigue, 22, scored 15 goals and added 17 assists in 82 games played in four seasons at Elon University. In 2012, the Apex, N.C., product earned NSCAA second-team All-South Region and second-team All-Southern Conference honors. He finished third on the team in goals (5) and second in assists (6). He also earned 2012 Southern Conference Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors.

Following a bye in Week 1 of the schedule this weekend as Major League Soccer kicks off its 18th season, the Revolution will open the 2013 season on Saturday, March 9, on the road against the Chicago Fire in a match that will be televised nationally on NBC Sports Network. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. 98.5 The Sports Hub will also carry the game on the radio.
