FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Tomorrow evening, September 22, the New England Revolution will recognize the diverse Hispanic and Latino cultures in the New England region with Hispanic Heritage Night, held in conjunction with the Revs’ match against the New York Red Bulls at 7:30 p.m. at Gillette Stadium. The event is being held to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated nationally September 15 through October 15.

The highlight of the evening will be the championship match of the new Liga de Campeones, the Revolution’s tournament of regional multi-cultural adult soccer leagues.

Six teams advanced to the final bracket in the 2012 Liga de Campeones, and the final will feature the Union Stars of Boston’s Union International Soccer League against Goinaninho FC of Marlboro’s Hispanic Soccer League. The two finalists will feature on the Gillette Stadium field at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, before the Revs host the Red Bulls. The champion will be recognized on-field later in the evening at halftime of the Revs-Red Bulls match.

After the first Liga de Campeones champion is determined, focus shifts to the Revs’ match. Prior to the game, popular regional Telemundo personality

will perform with her Mariachi band at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on the NRG Plaza stage, next to The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon, and then will perform the National Anthem immediately prior to the game.

Leominster-based, Uruguayan drum corps Tronar Celeste will also perform on the NRG Plaza stage at 6:30 p.m., and then entertain supporters in the stands with their festive and revered candombe performance during the match to create a carnival-type atmosphere.
