FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – With the final third of the schedule underway, the New England Revolution (6-12-5, 23 pts.) next travels to face the Chicago Fire (11-7-5, 38 pts.) at 8:30 p.m., on Saturday, August 18, at Toyota Park.

The Revolution match will be televised regionally on Comcast SportsNet and will also be carried locally on the radio by 98.5 The Sports Hub.

Saturday’s match against Chicago will mark the second of three meetings between the two teams this season, with a third match scheduled for October 20 at Gillette Stadium. The Revs defeated Chicago, 2-0, on June 2, in Foxborough.

Team Notes vs. Chicago Fire

A New Era Against Chicago

With a 2-0 victory against Chicago on June 2, the Revs snapped a 10 game regular-season winless streak (0-7-3) against the Fire, which dated back to October 6, 2007 … a win this weekend in the Windy City would give the Revs back-to-back wins against the Fire for the first time since 2005 … that year, the Revs shut out Chicago twice in wins on April 27 (3-0) and May 7 (2-0).

Time for Toyota Park Taming

The Revs travel to Chicago seeking their first-ever regular-season victory at Toyota Park … since Chicago’s new home opened in 2006, the Revs are winless (0-5-1) at Toyota Park in regular-season play … the Revs claimed a 1-0 win in Chicago during SuperLiga 2010, but the team has dropped its last two regular-season road matches against the Fire.

Road Test Against Eastern Conference Rival

Saturday’s match in Chicago opens a brief stretch of back-to-back road games against Eastern Conference opponents … while the Revs have picked up points in four of their eight home matches against the East, the team is 0-5-2 on the road within the conference … following Saturday’s match at Chicago, the team will head to Columbus to face the Crew on August 25 before returning home for a three-game home stand beginning on August 29.

Jerry Returns and Gets the Start …

Following a three-week stint with the Honduran Olympic Team as one of its over-aged players, Jerry Bengtson returned to the Revolution late last week after a return home from London via Honduras to complete some immigration paperwork … in his first Revolution appearance since July 14, Bengtson made his first career MLS start, playing 45 minutes against Montreal … in London, Bengtson started four matches and recorded three goals for Honduras … Bengtson has recorded one goal in three appearances for the Revs.

… But He’s Off Again

Jerry Bengtson had a brief stay in Foxborough after returning from London (via Honduras), as he departed Monday morning for Miami where he will meet up with the Honduras National Team for its exhibition against Argentine club power Boca Juniors on Wednesday … he is expected to return to Foxborough on Thursday following the game and be available for selection on Saturday at Chicago … Bengtson has 22 caps for Honduras, scoring eight goals with the senior team.

Winless Streak Hits Six

Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Montreal at home extended the Revs’ winless streak to six games (0-5-1), which began on July 14 against Toronto … the winless streak is the team’s longest of the season and is the first such streak since a six-game winless streak (0-5-1) in the final six matches of the 2011 season … all five losses in the current stretch – including the team’s last three results – have been by one goal.

Goal-Scoring Shortage

The Revs enter Saturday’s game in Chicago riding a 258-minutes scoreless streak … the team has not scored since Saer Sene’s 12th-minute strike on July 29 at Philadelphia … the current scoreless streak is the eighth-longest in MLS this season and the 10th-longest in club history … the club record for consecutive scoreless minutes (361) was set during the 1999 campaign in parts of five games from May 1 to May 29.

Shot Numbers in Winless Stretch

The Revs have scored just two goals in the team’s six-game winless streak … despite the low scoring totals in that span, the team has been shooting more – averaging 13.83 shots per game - an increase over the team’s season average (12.94 shots per game) … however, while the team is shooting more, they are finding the target on fewer occasions … the Revs are second in MLS in shots on goal with 128, but in the last six games, the Revs have averaged 3.67 shots on goal – almost two-and-a-half shots on goal fewer per game than the team’s season average (6.11 shots on goal per game).

Reserves Fall Against Montreal

On Monday morning, the Montreal Impact Reserves defeated the Revolution Reserves, 3-1, at Gillette Stadium’s Lower Practice Field … Dimitry Imbongo scored the Revs’ lone goal in the 45th minute … the Revolution Reserves moved to 2-3-3 (9 pts.) and will return to action on Sept. 10 against the Toronto FC Reserves, in Foxborough.

Boggs Retires

On Friday, August 10, third-year midfielder Zak Boggs retired in order to accept a Fulbright Scholarship to study medical sciences at England’s Leicester University, beginning this fall … Boggs, 25, was originally drafted in the second round (31st overall) in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft … Boggs made 29 appearances, scoring two goals and adding one assist … after suffering a severe ankle sprain in February, he was placed on the DL and did not make a first-team appearance this season before he retired … since the fall of 2010, he has been volunteering afternoons at Dr. Marsha Moses’ cancer research lab at Boston Children’s Hospital, and he won the 2011 MLS W.O.R.K.S. Humanitarian of the Year award.
