FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution (6-9-5, 23 pts.) completes a three-game road trip when the team travels to face the Philadelphia Union (6-10-2, 20 pts.) at PPL Park on Sunday, July 29, in a nationally-televised game on the NBC Sports Network.

The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff. While NBC Sports Network will televise the game nationally, 98.5 The Sports Hub will carry the game on the radio.

Sunday’s match is the first of three regular-season games between the two teams this season. The teams will play at Gillette Stadium on Sept. 1 and return to PPL Park on Oct. 6. Philadelphia won the regular-season series in 2011 after defeating the Revs, 3-0, on July 13 before the teams played to a 4-4 draw on September 7.

The MLS All-Stars will take on UEFA Champions League victor Chelsea FC on Wednesday night in Philadelphia, but fans in Boston can still get in on the fun festivities … Revolution players and the Rev Girls will be in attendance at a watch party at Cask and Flagon, across the street from Fenway Park, beginning at 8 p.m. ET … the event is for fans ages 21 and older and is the perfect destination for fans that might already be attending the Liverpool-AS Roma match at Fenway at 6:30 p.m.

Revs back in national audience spotlight again

Following the All-Star Game, the Revs return to action in their third match this season nationally-televised on the NBC Sports Network … the Revs fell to New York, 1-0, in their last match on NBC Sports on April 28 … in the club’s NBC Sports Network debut on March 31, the Revs erupted for two first-half goals to defeat LA, 3-1 … the Revs did not see much success in nationally-televised games between 2009 and 2011, posting a 4-12-6 record: 2-1-2 on ESPN2, 1-3-2 on the Univision family of networks (Univision, Telefutura and Galavision) and 1-8-2 on FOX Soccer.

The Revs’ current three-game road swing – the team’s longest of the season – wraps up with a trip to Eastern Conference foe Philadelphia on Sunday … the Revs began the stretch of three road games last week with a mid-week loss to Montreal (2-1) before Saturday’s scoreless draw in Kansas City... after traveling directly from Montreal to Kansas City, the team returned home on Sunday to train for four days before the quick trip to Philadelphia for Sunday night’s matchup.

Revs Match Shutout Mark

The Revs secured a point on Saturday at Kansas City with a strong defensive performance in the scoreless draw at Kansas City … the shutout was the team’s fifth of the season, and Matt Reis’ fourth of 2012 … one year ago through 20 games, the Revs had posted four defensive shutouts, and finished the year with only five clean sheets … the team struggled to find shut out their opponents, recording just one defensive shutout in the final 14 games of the 2011 campaign – a 2-0 win against FC Dallas on Sept. 10.

July Scoring Slump

While the Revs posted their fifth defensive shutout on Saturday at Kansas City, the 0-0 draw also marked the team’s second attacking shutout of the month, after falling 1-0 to Toronto on July 14 … in the four games played so far in July, the Revs are 1-2-1 and have a scoring average of 0.75 goals per game … the team opened the month against New York (July 8) with a 2-0 win, its ninth multiple-goal game of the season, but have scored just one goal since – a Lee Nguyen strike in the 2-1 loss to Montreal on July 18.

All Tied Up and Twisted in Last Ten

Saturday’s draw at Kansas City was the team’s fifth of the season … after playing to a win or a loss in the first 10 games of the season, the Revs have earned five draws in the last 10 games … the Revs set a club record last season with 13 draws en route to a 5-16-13 record.

Backline Roster Boogie

Jay Heaps shook up the Revs backline on Saturday in Kansas City for the second straight game … Darrius Barnes started at left back while Chris Tierney – who had started there the previous 18 games – lined up at left midfield … Barnes earned his first start of the season at center back last Wednesday in Montreal in place of the injured Stephen McCarthy, who missed the mid-week match with concussive-like symptoms stemming from a hit on July 14 against Toronto.

Captain Joseph Returns

Shalrie Joseph returned to the starting lineup at Kansas City on Saturday – his first start since the June 30 match against Seattle, at Gillette Stadium … Joseph came off the bench in two straight games (July 8 vs. New York and July 14 vs. Toronto), and suffered from back stiffness and did not dress last Wednesday at Montreal … during that three-game stretch, Clyde Simms wore the captain’s armband.

Reis Among Elite in Saves and Saves Percentage

Following a six save effort at Kansas City, Matt Reis returned to the league’s top 10 in saves and saves percentage … Reis’ 57 saves rank eighth in MLS, behind league-leader Matt Pickens of Colorado … in 18 starts, Reis has stopped 57 of 82 shots he’s faced – a 69.5 saves percentage – which also ranks eighth in the league.

Alston Could Reach Career Milestone on Sunday

Kevin Alston enters this week with 99 career appearances – all starts – and could record his 100th start in the same number of appearances on Sunday in Philadelphia … with one more start, Alston would become the first player drafted in the first round of the 2009 MLS SuperDraft to record 100 appearances and starts … Alston recorded 26 starts in his rookie season and made 22 starts in 2010 before starting 33 of the team’s 34 games in 2011.
