Youth update

FRISCO, Texas – The New England Revolution Under-16 squad played its third and final game of the 2011-12 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs Friday morning, suffering a 3-1 loss to the Dallas Texans.

Dallas’ Brandon Moore opened scoring in the 10th minute, giving the local club an early lead.

The added sense of urgency saw the Revs create chances of their own soon after, but the Texans doubled their advantage before New England could capitalize. Christian Soldat slotted one home in the 16th minute to make it 2-0.

The Revs then pulled one back in time added for a water break. Ryan Kingsley (North Attleborough, Mass.) sent a long ball out of the back, Matthew Nyeayea (Worcester, Mass.) making the run across the 18 to collect. Nyeayea then laid the ball off for Danny Apajee (Cranston, R.I.), who finished to put New England on the score sheet.

Brandon Aubrey added an insurance goal for Dallas in the 76th minute, capitalizing on a counter attack to make the final score 3-1.

Having finished the tournament with an overall record of 0-2-1, the U16s placed fourth in their group based on goal differential and did not advance to Finals Week.
