FRISCO, Texas – The New England Revolution Under-18 team played its third and final game of the 2011-12 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs Thursday afternoon, suffering a 3-1 loss to Charlotte Soccer Academy.

Though Charlotte came out of the gates flying, prompting three noteworthy saves from goalkeeper Matt Mozynski (Bellingham, Mass.) in the opening 18 minutes of play, the Revs tallied first in the 34th minute. Manny Andrade (Boston, Mass.) found Ramiro Osorio (Hooksett, N.H.) in the midfield, Osorio taking a touch before firing a shot that rang off both posts before crossing the goal line.

Charlotte then answered two minutes later, Kyle Parker netting the equalizer.

It looked as though the teams would enter the break knotted at 1-1 when the 45th minute came to a close, but Charlotte’s Nathaniel Goodwin scored the go-ahead goal during time added for a water break.

The Revs continued to generate chances throughout the second half. Peguy Ngatcha (Manchester, N.H.) saw his efforts denied in the 59th minute, and Christian Sady’s (North Andover, Mass.) shot from distance was parried away in the 83rd.

Ben Burdon then scored in stoppage time, making the final score 3-1 in Charlotte’s favor.

Having finished the tournament with an overall record of 0-2-1, the U18s placed fourth in their group and did not advance to Finals Week.

On Friday, the Under-16s are set to play their third and final game of the Development Academy Playoffs. Kickoff against the Dallas Texans is scheduled for 10 a.m. ET.
